Latvia and Lithuania
Route: Start off from Riga and head first East, and then South, making your way into Lithuania, to arrive to Vilnius. Then move West and North back into Latvia to reach Riga.
See map below:
Transportation: Traveling by plane, you will arrive to Riga airport. Air Baltic is the regional airline serving many places in Europe and a few in Central Asia. To get from Riga airport to city center, see Cityhook.com's Riga page.
Accommmodations: You can either go very lux or cheap in Latvia and Lithuania in terms of accommodations. These are the highly recommended places we used for this trip:
- Riga: Primo Hotel: Spacious, very clean, and 15 minutes walking distance away from the city center, this hotel is somewhere between average and high range.
- Vilnius: Downtown market: With its quirky decorations and prime location, this place is good for your budget, too. Do not expect hostel prices, but very affordable for what it is. Plus, you'll get your breakfast brought to your room.
For more: See Lonley Planet's Latvia and Luthiania sections. Also, take a look at official tourism sites for Latvia and Lithuania.
This four days road trip will take you to two Baltic capitals and the countryside beyond.
